Default Question on an H&B Boog Powell bat

Hello,

I have an H&B Boog Powell bat that, based on dating the logo, is between 1965-68.

The knob of the bat is stamped BP5.

My research so far indicates that game used bats were marked 016 or something like that.

Can anyone tell me if a bat stamped BP5 was a game used bat or a store bat?

It measures 35" long (I don't have a weight on it yet).

Thank you.

Ron

Hi Ron,

What you have is a store bat -- the BP refers to Boog's initials, the 5 indicates the length of the bat (35 inches). Any combination of the player's intitials and a number indicating length (usually 3, 4 or 5) means it is a store bat. I'm guessing it probably says Flame Tempered to the right of the center oval, which also appears on store bats.
