Default 62 Yankees Team Issue - Mantle

Anyone know where you can find any info on this set? I couldn't find anything in SCD Vintage or not much online. From what I can tell, it appears there were two Mantle variations from the set - one portrait, and the other batting. Thanks. Unless PSA labeled one or the other incorrectly... They don't look like the same set with card border and Yankees missing on one.

the portrait photo on the left is from the 1964 yankees team issue set. The batting pose is 1962 set.

Thanks Mike. Do you know of a source that tells you the portrait is 64 and batting is 62? PSA no longer grades the batting pose photo since Yankees is not shown.

Ben,

The photo with the batting pose is from the team issued "Champion Set." I have it listed as being issued in either late 1961 or 1962.

In regard to the pose picture, I have that listed as a 1963 set sold at the stadium. The 1964 set sold at the stadium is one I do not have but it's possible it was sold both years.

For a reference I suggest the trading card database. I think the portrait is from 1964 as it is the same format used in many sets from 1964 which was a departure from previous years. This is strictly an opinion. Sorry about the delay was n responding, it's been a while since I logged in!

I agree with AustinMike on the batting pose photo. It comes from a 14 photo set honoring the 1961 champs. I assumed it came out for sale in the stadium for the 1962 season but certainly could have come out after the series was won and sold at retail outlets.
