Do NOT try to outbid me on the 1894 Baltimore CdV !!

I am sure Mr. Struss and his Mastro boys will be getting a lot of my money for this item already ... so they don't need your help in driving my price up.

Thanks for the courtesy.

I have sadly learned from experience in recent years that just about anything Baltimore is usually out of reach, as there are a number of hard-core Baltimore collectors in Maryland (with really deep pockets) that go after any 19th century or 1914-15 Federal League items that come up for auction. My guess is that most of those items will go for at least 5 times the Minimum Bid.

Thanks for the warning, Plastic.

If nothing else, I will make those guys pay through the nose.

As an avid Astros fan, we have had little to brag about over the years, but I'm really happy we now have a real name for our baseball stadium, for a month or two anyway.

Hal,

The 1894 Baltimore Item is a Cabinet Card, not a CDV. To the best of my knowledge, none of the Grading Companies will grade a Cabinet Card, based on it's size.

Great point of clarification! Thanks for looking out for me!!

I may indeed bow out of the bidding because of that fact.

Had it been a CDV, I would have been bidding as well!

Maybe now that potential bidders are falling away like flies, perhaps I'll sneak in a bid. All lots start at a $5 minimum bid, right?

Actually, the Christy Mathewson silver cigarette holder appeals to me. I even have some Sweet Caporal cigarettes to stick inside. As the price will probably get out of hand, I'll probably have to instead try for some of the Jimmy Foxx personal stuff. I'll now be able to present my wife a genuine gold wedding band. "Who the hell is Jimmy Foxx?!!?," I can hear her say as she reads the inscription. Wives can be so picky.
