Default T206 Murr'y variation - update, new find?!

Posted By: rob

Hi all,

I beleive I may have a one of a kind item on my hands. Up until now all that has been known is the Murr'y variation with a Lenox back, SGC has verified one for me with a Tolstoi back. Now before all hell breaks loose on how a prinitng error could have happened on two different brands, Lenox and Tolstoi were produced at the same factory, so the theory still proves intact.

I have no current plans for the card, but wanted to share the possibility of a one of a kind t206 variation with this learned crowd.

And thanks to those who helped me post a picture!

Rob

Thanks for posting and a very nice find! However, this card is not a one of a kind as the T206 cards were printed on sheets and repeated vertically. So all of the Murray, portrait, cards on this Tolstoi sheet will have the missing "A". How many survived is another question, but at least you have confirmed that this variation is possible with Tolstoi and previously known Lenox brands.

Until another is found it holds the distinction of being unique; perhaps temporary, but at least for today! Well done Rob.

Great find!! Can you elaborate on the details as how came to own such a rarity?

People said it was a million dollar wound. But the government must keep that money, cause I ain't never seen a penny of it.

I kept shaving ink of the "A" until it looked like the variation, it has taken the better part of 15 years to achieve this absolute perfection of a ruse...

ok, just kidding, the truth is it was little blind luck...I didnt take advantage of anyone nor know this card was in the lot I bought, it just happened to be there and I noticed it. Sorry, not too sexy a story, just happenstance.
