Default Escalera PC returned from PSA

Decided to have my Nino Escalera, autographed PC, PSA/DNA encapsulated. Escalera played for the Cincinnati Redegs in the 1954 season. I consider this 1954, team issued PC, his RC.

I am disappointed with the encapsulation. The inner sleeve does not anchor the card, it's too big. It does not fit length or width. Although packaged properly for shipping, the card had shifted as far horizontal as it could in the slab. I had to shake and tap the slab to get it properly adjusted. I think they could have done a better job. I will probably give them a call.

I was using the Fristch card in my color barrier collection. When I stumbled upon the postcard, it became my preferred RC representation.

that's her. my ocd prohibits me from anything in the larger holders, but certainly appreciate that postcard and definitely see why you prefer that one the rc. i wouldn't consider the fritsch a rookie card in any fashion either...

i am working on the signed color barrier rookie card set and unfortunately this is the only other card that fits my ocd criteria:

Default Bob Lemke's custom rookie

I also have this Bob Lemke, custom Escalera card. I think he did a great job on it.

That postcard is terrific! But save your call to PSA. They don't have holders that perfectly fit every card. Some cards are in holders with a cavity that's too big for the card. That's just the way it is with PSA and, if that bothers you, it's something you need to consider. I believe SGC has inner gaskets that are customized to fit your card and limit movement within the holder. A call to PSA will be a waste of time. They'll basically just tell you well, shit happens. Like I said, if that's a problem for you, don't sub to them.
