If you enjoyed Hitchhikers I would highly highly suggest the Red Dwarf series. Amazing space/comedy - been out of print for years you will be hard pressed to find a copy in the USA - well worth the read, never seen the show and never will but the books are my all time favorite series. The authors split off for the third sequel so you have both authors working on 1 and 2 and then two different "3's".
