Default R&R auction sells cards or postage?

Posted By: Evan

It seems that the auction houses are not happy with the 17 1/2 to 20 percent they charge for the honor of dealing with them. I purchased 2 authographed postcards from R&R at their recent auction. The cumulative weight, approximately 1 ounce. I received an invoice detailing a 15.00 charge for shipping and handling and 2.00 for insurance. When I contacted them I was told that they have a set schedule of what they charge, based on the closing price, not the weight or dimension. I had previously spent probably 20k over the last couple of years with them so it is not like I am a new customer. I certainly never have an issue paying a reasonable fee for shipping, even overpaying a bit at times, but to be charged almost 10% of the cost of the items is absurd. If they want to go into the postage business they should open a mail center, not soak thir customers. Be sure you read the whole catalog before dealing with these bloodsuckers.

That is lame. Insurance based on closing price - yes, not postage. At least they aren't charging a Buyer's Premium on the postage - yet!

No issue with this kind of subject being brought to the board but Evan really needs to put his first and last name out here, per the rules. I have emailed him as to this also. If I don't know the poster then I need to know their contact info etc in these instances....it's per the rules and for everyone's protection. Once again, no issue with this type of post in general (I have no idea about the specifics of this issue)....regards

ps...I don't like overly inflated shipping charges either
