Thought I'd bump this thread since the auction didn't have any bids yet. This is a terrific group of 20 w517 MINIs that would give someone a great start on collecting a scarce and attractive set from the 30s. This lot is loaded with HOFers as well as the scarcer players in the set (ie...Miller, Jackson, etc..). Lots of rare color variations as well for many of the players.

I'm shocked this lot doesn't have a bid yet. I've never seen a group of these this size available anywhere. Only one was comparable which was auctioned off in May, 2011 -
http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...ntoryid=115783

That group of 14 went for nearly $5,500 by the time it was all said and done. The Goodwin Auction going on now actually has many of the exact cards that were in that previous auction as well. Not sure how they're struggling to meet the minimum bid this time around.

Anyway, thanks for reading and for tolerating the friendly bump

Brian:

No offense but shouldn't this thread be in the auction section?

I think he had them listed here for sale, consigned them, and continued to edit and update the thread. There is no real issue doing that, imo.

Yep, rather than create a seperate thread altogether, I just bumped the original one from when they were on sale here. Notice the original post was from May

Brian, just a thought on why this lot isn't getting much interest ... there's only eight scans available, and some of them look like they are cropped in Photoshop. The corners on the Waner, the Collins, the Vance and the darker Cochrane look too sharp, and the edges look too straight. Are those the actual corners and edges of the cards? The edges and corner of the other four examples look like I would expect them to ...

Chris,

If you use the arrows, you can scroll and see a total of 13 cards. Not all 20 I realize, but it is a little better than just the 8.

I agree, those 4 cards do look like they got cropped a bit close. With Waner, Collins and Vance - if anything, the close cropping did those cards a disservice actually because all three of those are very very nice in person with even edges and sharp corners. Obviously, I don't have the cards in front of me but I believe there should be a bit more of the border showing on those which is a positive thing.

I'm not sure what happened there as plenty of the other cards have round corners which are showing. It would make no sense to intentionally crop those three cards specifically as they are three of the nicest in the group to begin with. The Cochrane looks a bit goofy though. I wonder if he had to get those to be a specific size?

Hope that answers your question,
Brian
