Default August Pickups!

I posted this today at the tail end of last month's thread, then realized it was August.

I'll kickstart August with this one. Thanks for releasing this one back to the wild, Matt.

A beautifully centered Aaron rookie card and PSA 10 Mantle. What a start to the August thread. I'm sure there are going some some incredible posts from the National so post em' up. Congrats Sean and CW two incredible cards.

Thanks guys I had been looking for a little while too. Can't have a 51 Mantle without a 51 Mays, right?

And Sean, that's awesome. The bump from 9 to 10 probably adds about 1000% to the value of that card. Did you buy it in a PSA 9 at the show?

Ya'll left me in the dust long ago, but here's one I've wanted for a while. My constraints were no major problems + under $50. I am very happy with it.

Nice Aaron! I love the pic on this card. One of Hank's best cards, but very under appreciated IMO.

Making some progress on my '59 Topps set. May upgrade the Mantle AS later but it has sharp corners and got it for a good deal.

Sorry for the glare but no scanner at work.

It's been a frustrating month of dealing with USPS, but this one finally found its way home.
Instead of going straight from Indiana to New York, package was first missent to Colorado, and then flew all the way from California to NY, to finally be shipped out to Europe.

Got my recently picked up 52T Mathews graded....pretty okay with the grade.....not as nice as Bob's pickup a few posts back.....

53T mantle graded. Was hoping for a 3 but there's a rub and dimpled writing on the front...upgrade candidate for later.....

Some 1953T pickups to get me closer to that set......

Nice Sain with Page back error......

Couple of 52T upgrades for my set....

And a 52T Reese from ebay......

Tom - nice work on those '52s.
How many high numbers are you lacking to complete the entire set?
I am just sticking with the low numbers (for now at least) and have about 60 to go.

Yea very nice Mantles. The color on that 1960 makes it look like it was just pulled from a pack yesterday.

Thanks-- yes, that is what blew me away on the 1960 card. Pulsing vibrant color in hand, bright white borders, no PD like so many, and a focused Mick

MattyC,

Now that is a nice batch of Micks. The 60 Mantle really pops when you look at it. Hard to imagine any better color and clarity on any card even a 9. That 53 Bowman is a real keeper and that 54 Bowman has got to be under graded for sure. Congrats.

Cole,

Great pickup! Aside from this one and the portrait, what's the 3rd card you have so far?

This was part of the packaging for a 1963 Transogram item. It included a rectangle image of Mays and Mantle. I'm not sure if the intention was for them to be cut out--I don't think there were dotted lines to cut along and it is backed with corrogated cardboard--but the original owner thought it was a card and it reminds very much of the Topps Giant Standups. Either way, the image on this slightly oversized card is striking and I could not be happier to have it in my set.

Picked up these two recently. I have gone a while without buying anything and decided to start again. Am trying to focus on lower grade with decent centering and nice eye appeal.
I think I did well with these two:

Gorgeous Robinsons! My question is, how the hell did that '54 get a 4 from PSA? What am I not seeing?

You guys have opened my eyes to the potential hidden in any PSA 4 slab. The '54 Jackie is a great card. The '57 Mantle is the best centering I have ever seen on that card. Excellent additions and probably easy on the wallet. Well played all around.
