Default October Pickups

Admittedly, I got this in late September, but I wanted to start October off with a BANG! This will probably get trumped by some amazing REA winnings later this month (by others), but I couldn't be more pleased w/ my pick-up, which came from a fellow board member (thanks Bruce G)!!

This is my new favorite card in my collection (by a long shot):

Very nice, Derek. Congrats! I thought that was the card you were after, especially given the hint that you gave me.

Four tough upgrades to my 1933 Goudey set.

Dykes and Manush are from the more difficult low series, and just happen to be the two cards in the entire set that have variations. Malone is one of the hardest commons to get in high grade. Herman is a tough Hall of Famer.

Default another October pick-up

Thanks for the nice words on the O'Rourke CDV. Ironically, this morning I got my second-favorite card in the mail today. I like that this cabinet uses the same image as the one-of-a-kind 1894 Alpha Photo Engraving card. Now you all can see why I've been selling so much stuff lately:

1890's Perkins Studio Cabinet - Hugh Jennings:

I just picked up this circa 1905-1910 rppc at a local antique shop showing two local teams. The back row features two black ballplayers. The two bats being held by players seated represent the long and short of it. Some of the caps worn by the players scream late 1880s or 1890s. They must be hand me downs.

I guess I'll be going for the unusual 3-6-4 Double Play.

Default October Pickups

Nice pickups Luke. It's always refreshing to see a prewar card with huge borders that's managed to avoid the trim shop.

Excited to pick up another catcher S74 colored silk for my collection.

Unusual darker blue color with this one as well.

A much needed upgrade. I think you can see why.....

Not sure why the new card is a 2 looks more like a 3 to me but whatever.

A new T210-1 from Jason (thanks), to go with my other, more "mature" Pearce:
