Default To the "54" brig

Andrew, Nice "Mordecai" T-205.

I know this is not baseball but I can't help myself . I know there is a vintage Hockey site but it's not on this forum. Maybe someday we will have one but until then I am going to be a rebel every once in awhile to show my Hockey fixes.

Picked these up from Seth at 19th Century Only who IMO runs very nice Auctions.

Very nice Ice Kings, Michael. I've been known to post an IK or two in the past, so it's obviously OK with me anyway. I just need two more to finish the set, Thompson "Left Ear Showing" and Chabot "No Trees". Took me awhile to get used to the fact that the blade marks on the ice were not scratches on the card.

Default I never thought my 30th 1914 CJ would be this one....

I have pretty much been a lurker on these boards, but the information provided has been invaluable to me....Thanks to all! Started collecting vintage BB cards about 5 years ago and finished all 240 cards of the 1933 Goudey set. I started collecting 1914 CJ's about a year ago, knowing that it would be a long endeavor. I did a triple, quadruple and quintuple take when I found this for sale. Pretty nice (I think) for a PSA 1!

Barry

The Pratt is a great pick up as he is one of if not the hardest card in that set to find. Plus he in a 1914 only card and one that I have been looking for. If you upgrade or want to sell LMK. Card looks grade for the grade, is there back damage?

Default 1914 CJ Del Pratt

James,

Thanks much for the complement on the 1914 CJ Del Pratt. The back of the card is almost nicer (IMHO) than the front. No tears, paper or corner loss, excessive caramel staining or folds. Along the mid right border of the front there may be what I would describe as a possible slight compression of the card paper, but nothing that really detracts from the overall eye appeal of the card. It was a complete fluke that I found this as a BIN when I did my periodic search on ebay. I am not optimistic that I will happen upon two unicorns in my collecting lifetime, but will certainly keep you in mind if that happens. I may actually try submitting the card to SGC to see their opinion as I think PSA was very harsh in their grading of the card. I knew I was purchasing a PSA 1, but was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box it was delivered in.

I picked up 20 T210s last week plus this card last night. (I'll post the scans of the T210s when they get back from SGC). This is not a pre-war card but I've always loved this card.

Matt,
I would love to see the clarity of the front... Is that a new label for SGC?

Default I love the Matty back as well

The clarity is great but the math is bad... When would a 37-1 record mean a
.771 winning percentage- shouldn't it be 37-11?

It should be 37-11; this is a T205 variation that just recently came into wide public view thanks to the Levy's on our forum. Legend has it that a dealer in the 70's knew about it and bought one for $1000, but it wasn't widely known until about a year ago. It's not quite as impossible as some would have you believe, but a tough T205 variation nonetheless. I assume that it will be cataloged in the next edition of the Standard Catalog but perhaps Bob Lemke can chime in.

Default Not in 2010

The Mathewson "error-back" will definitely not be in the 2010 catalog. That went to press long ago, and before I re-signed with the outfit.

I am currently planning to add it to the 2011 book, along the lines of . . .

(124b) C, Mathewson (1908 G.L. 1, should be 11. Cycle back only)

Default SGC Back

Hey Lance,

Others will certainly give more specifics, but that's an earlier form of the SGC back. Not sure exactly how many there have been, or where that fits in the evolution, but there have been at least a couple of changes.

Jeff - if it was without the Carter on the flip before, what did you have to provide to SGC to prove to them it was Carter's card?
