Default Stadium seat question from a newbie

Hello! My name is Mike and I'm new to this forum. I stumbled on to this site and I'm sure glad I did. I'm trying to add some interesting items to my memorabila room and have decided I'd like to add a stadium seat from either Yankee or Tiger stadium. Since I have zero experience with this, can someone give me some suggestions on what to look for and what to avoid...refurbished vs not refurbished, etc? Thanks!

Keep in mind there are 2 Yankee Stadium seats, 1 from the original Stadium that closed in 1973.
And the other from the refurbished stadium that opened in '76 and closed last year.
The recent seats can be had from Steiner Sports and they aren't a heckuvalot cheaper then the original stadium seats.
The first stadium seats have wood slats, while the refursbished stadium seats have plastic bottoms & backs.

Here's a shot of my seat that I sold to a friend (& N54'er) last November. Going rate is about $1500-$2000.

Ironically I picked up a pair of Tiger Stadium seats (plastic back & bottom)
dlvd for just $150 last year as well

My advice, for what it's worth...

Learn the history of the stadium you're looking for prior to the purchase. For example, there are several varieties of Yankee Stadium seats available. Straight back seats come from the original build in the 1920's. In the 1940's they replaced the free standing folding chairs in the box seat area. The replacements were curved backs and seats. And then there are the plastic ones that went in in 1973-1975 and came out this year.

Refurbished vs. Not??? - Tough question. Purists like them "not". But some of us have to live with, or be married to, non-purists. I have a Yankee Stadium seat that was refurbished way back in 1973, and not touched since. My wife allows it, grudgingly, to sit in my office, right inside our front door. I also have a double seat from the Boston Garden, unrefurbished. It can't seem to make it out of my garage.

Here's some sites to look at:

http://collectiblestadiumseats.com/
(these two are the same seller, just different sites.)

Here's mine.

Thanks everyone for the reply's and the messages. This was exactly what I was looking for. Wow...I checked out those links and even found a Forbes Field seat which would be kinda cool with my 1960 Pirates team project that I'm almost finished with. Decisions, decisions. I agree though that it's hard to be a purist when you're married to someone that isn't!
