Default Bob Gibson Autograph - Real or Fake???

First off...I know absolutely positively nothing about autographs so don't laugh (too much)......I found this card yesterday in the $1.00 bin at a little antique consignment shop we have in town...The card is pretty beat up but I couldn't resist buying it...What are the "odds" it's a real autograph???

Dumb luck...I've actually seen the card in the bin before, but never really looked at it very closely because of the wear...for some reason I saw the signature this time...I guess all these "autograph" infighting threads somehow made me subconciously see it this time...Kinda strange how the mind works.......I guess I owe somebody some thanks...

Default A friend of a friend....

Sooo.....ok........this guy I know has a friend who recently found what might possibly be an autographed baseball card.

Sooo.....Question is: If you were forced at gunpoint to have to chose one place to send it in to get officially authenticated, where would that be???

P.S. This guy's friend is only worried about re-selling it and getting top dollar for it..........He doesn't care how good it looks in the slab or any of that other jiberish....He just wants to make huge gobs of cash from this one card...Your thoughts???

I wouldn't send it in to PSA. As is, it's a $15-25 card. Slabbed it may sell in the $45-$55 range. After fees, and shipping both ways, you'd be looking at breaking even or a small loss.

I don't think he meant the Gibson, and I think peak value slabbed is around $20

He was using the "friend" to avoid shrapnel.

I think you selling it short. Brent. '74 is a sought after auto set. The card (from what's visible) isn't in bad condition, and the auto is a great specimen. $40 would be easy.

It's Gibson, an extremely easy autograph to obtain, and these are all in significantly better condition and hardly sold for anything.

As I said, the autograph is much nicer than at least two of your examples. I don't see how you are valuing it at $20 slabbed????

Thanks for the replies and links fellas; I appreciate it! Looks like my friend's friend's brother isn't gonna get incredibly wealthy on this one.......I'll break the bad news to him...LOL....Perhaps he'd be willing to do a trade for something else...
