Default Top 15 teams that didn't win the series

Interesting article, some of the rankings might be a bit off, and they apparently didn't look at prewar series. But I'd forgotten just how good some of those teams were.

I think he forgot the 1962 Giants,,, Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Marichal. Only four HOFers on that team.

4 might not even be high enough for that team. That '95 Indians offense was SICK. Looking at the 9 starters(sure Pena had more PA's than Sandy, but I'll count Sandy as the starter). Only 2 of those 9, failed to bat .300. Omar and Sorrento. Omar still had a very productive season though, with a .333 OBP, 29 SB's and 87 Runs. Sorrento was possibly the worst of the starting 9. Yes, he batted .235, BUT he had a .336 OBP, 25 HR and 79 RBI. Again that's in 144 games..

Now, I don't wanna say that team was ALL offense either, as the pitching staff had the best era in the AL at 3.83. Almost a half-run better than the 2nd best team(Baltimore 4.31).. Dennis Martinez, leading the rotation with a 3.08 era(3rd in AL)..

2 GGs that season from Omar and Lofton.. 6 All-stars(Belle, Ramirez, Baerga, Lofton, Mesa and Martinez). Jose Mesa finished 2nd in Cy Young voting. Belle got robbed of an MVP, also finishing 2nd in voting..

1906 Chicago Cubs should have been #1.

2004 Cardinals were swept in 4 games by Boston after winning 105 games in the regular season.

2006 Cardinals however made up for it by winning the WS, despite winning 22 fewer games - 83.
