sorry i dont have any of the cards ...but i just wanted to ask,has your son seen the new T206 set that coming out from topps, and what does he think?....my younger brother who collects new cards and also has about 10-15 T206 cards was barely interested at all in these new t206 cards which suprised me,i figured this would be perfect for him.... just interested what someone else in his group might think,we already heard from most of the vintage collectors on this board....John

My son is excited about the new T206 set from Topps because it is something we can collect together from the packs. Actually I think Spencer just collects vintage cards because I do and it is something he can do with me without his sisters interfering. About a year ago he saw me "playing" with my T206 set and announced he wanted to start collecting them. He (actually we) recently completed a group of 9 Cub action poses that we got framed in a baseball diamond style mat. It now hangs in his room flanked by two Sammy Sosa posters.

I have mixed feelings about the T206 set from Topps. I think it is a good attempt compared to many of the other new issues coming out. From my perspective it is a dual message that the vintage card market continues to gain in mainstream popularity and the overall retro move in the US which now effects everything from PT cruisers to Baseball cards. Cutting up Johnny Evers pants and Wagners bat still sends shivers up my spine.

Take care.

My Dad got me into coin-collecting in much the same way you got your son into cards. He would buy sacks of pennies from a gum-ball vendor and we would sort through them for hours - great bonding thing. The beat-up old coins from those days are still the favorites of my collection.

He didn't understand my card-collecting though - I would have the floor covered with cards, sorting by the stats on the back. Unfortunately I threw out all the '68 and older cards when I declared myself an "adult" at the age of 10. I started collecting again immediately the next Spring!

If anyone has the following mid grade T205's I would appreciate if you could drop me a line:
Baker,Evers,Kling,Reulbach,McAllister
Nothing in too high a grade. Crease free VG/EX or better examples. Just looking to fill the final holes in my set.

I could have swore I was done. Interesting 3 of them are cubbies and my 9 year old son just started collecting T cards!

Scott.....sounds familiar......I would bug my mom and/or dad to bring rolls of coins home (mostly pennies for wheat pennies) from the bank. We'd sit and find the pennies, then they'd have to come up with replacements when we re-rolled them. You might not find anything but then again, you might find an Indian head penny here or there. Also some silver dimes or quarters occasionally......wish they'd been bringing home stacks of Old Judges and T206's to sort through! Wouldn't trade the memories though......
