Default Still Going Strong - MEARS December 2010 Auction

MEARS auctions utilizes the 15 minute rule per lot. Meaning, if there is one bid on any lot, the auction clock resets and starts over. For anybody crazy enough to care, that means you can still bid!!!!

The number of new registrations, total bidders, and total bids is a new record for our auction houses. Additionally, total sales have set a new company record.

Thank you to all of those that have supported us, and our apologies for making all of our bidder stay up so late.

The Staff of MEARS

You posted this in the other thread you started about the auction 3 minutes before you started this new thread. Why did you feel the need to also start this new thread?

Over 12 hrs later & the auction is still going? How ridiculous for those of us who appeared to have won a lot last evening that we have to monitor into the next day or even afternoon?

Why not close the Lots that had no bidding during the 15 min rule rather than keep the WHOLE auction running?

There are probably only 3-4 lots that are keeping the whole auction going?

Again, it's absurd!

Default second wind

I went to sleep at around 1am CST thinking it was on it's last leg. I figured I would win some and lose some and there is nothing I can't live without as the auction isn't too strong in cards. Heck, I caught a second wind when I got up at about 8am (I was wallowing in bed, I love to do that) and started bidding again. I think instead of going over to our friends this evening for a New Years Party I will have them come over here so I can keep bidding ....
They probably should have started some lots a little bit higher. I can't imagine having 2000+ low opening bid lots, that will eventually be $300-$400+, going up in very small increments. You guys just need to put your boxing gloves back on, throw a little vaseline on the cuts and keep going.

On a more serious note, I am very happy for the MEARS folks. They have been one of the strongest supporters and advertisers on Net54baseball. It is appreciated very much. It makes all of the threats of lawsuits (against me, by God only knows who, and for what) seem almost worthwhile.

It's still going, and may continue until 8:00 tonight if bidding continues. This has to be a record 15 minute extended bidding period for ANY auction that was not extended due to scheduling or technical issues.

It's all about how much more money they can make. Sure they'll say it's for the consignors to make more but they also make more. To me if a lot hasn't been bid on for 15 minutes close that lot. Don't let the whole auction keep running
