Default How to post pictures

A few old members, and all new members, seem to be perplexed by how to post pictures in this forum - It's sort of tricky, but not too bad.

1) Log in
2) Open a new post or comment
3) Left-click on the "Insert Object" button at the bottom of your post
4) Left-click on the "upload" button at the bottom of the resulting dialog box
5) Left-click on the "browse" button on the resulting dialog box
6) Browse your computer for the file you want to post
7) Dbl-left click on the file name once you find it
8) Left click on "upload" to the right of the file name Note that if it is a massive file (I'm not sure what the limit is) it will not upload.
9) The file name will appear on the left side of the dialog box, under "Temporary Files", and a picture of it will appear on the right.
10) Left-click on the "insert image" button at the bottom right of the dialog box.
11) Julie, print this off and tape it to the side of your computer.

You can also create a "realm" and save your files there instead - these are not temporary, but filespace is limited, so clean-up is needed every now and then. To create a realm:

1) Left-click on "My Resources"
2) Find the "realm" area on the resulting page, and left-click on the "new" link out to the right.
3) Pick a realm name (has to be unique). You can then use the "My Resources" tab to find your realm and upload files

I tried it with Ben's instrictions around the "Picture sharing thread!." Got stalled there.

To trouble-shoot this, after attempting to log in, open a post (either start a new one or comment on an existing one) and then look for a message on your screen indicating "logged in" or "not logged in". If you are "not logged in", you won't see the "insert object" button.

I mention the above because you told me that you cannot access the "non-baseball" forum, yet I have approved your membership three times, so I suspect you aren't logging in correctly there either.

Do you mean I have to log in to "network 54" as well as instead of) putting my name and address above my post? Because I haven't done that for ages. Still remember the log in words, though.
Will try it!

stop hanging out with Ben so much. A few months ago you wouldn't know a 5-hole from a fox-hole...now you're collecting Parkies?

Jagr rulez!

What a dreamboat! Quan, was it the greasy mullet that first attracted you to him, or something else?

Don't everyone rejoice at once! I couldn't post them; Ben can't post them. Ben says "They save for me as .bmp" To me, they all say ".jpg--Photo"

Do I have an insurmountable problem? I've memorized the procedure (just try trying to post something about 50 times!), but--NOTHING!

8 characters. There are a few archaic software packages out there that still require that you go with the old Microsoft standard of 8 characters, so it's not a bad idea to just get in that habit - it makes it easier to organize your scans anyway.

For instance, I name my t206's as follows, and the scans show up in my file browser in a nice order:
chars 1-3 - number from Lipset's book
chars 4-6 - 1st 3 letters of player's name
char 7 - card instance (e.g: "2" for 2nd copy,etc.)
char 8 - special use ("d" for detail, "e" for enlargement, etc.)

I wasn't taking any chances. (Those are just from this morning!)
My scans don't look archaic--they're great!

Sad to think that some idiodic card company bought Sawchuck's only pair of leg pads he wore his whole career (I assume the ones in the pic) and cut them up into little pieces for insets in their stupid cards. I doubt anyone gives a rats arse about those cards and great piece of memorabilia is lost to the sporting world.

And I hadn't heard about Veznia. That is even worse than Sawchuck.
