Default Barry's Balls (Pun Intended)

Guys,

SCP auction for HR balls 755 and 756 about to end. Just for fun any guesses on what the hammer price will be? This price excludes shipping and buyer's premium.

Any word if Barry is going to bid on his home run ball(s)?

My guess is $303,888 for HR Ball 756 and $133,888 for HR Ball 755.

I would think that HR Ball 756 is going to fall short of $500,000 estimate just because his memorabilia seems to be pretty cold recently.

Very little up side to a Bond's ball. The historical significance and lack of fan appeal outside SF are the major limiting factors IMO

There's about an hour left to the auction, I wonder if Todd MacFarlane is going to bid seriously for the balls.

Why would he? He took a bath on a Mark McGwire ball if I remember correctly.

Dan,

Some people just want the best available. Besides, Todd hasn't resold the McGwire ball, maybe he wants to monopolize the key home run balls. Right now HR ball 755 is showing spirited bidding.

I read an interview with Todd where he indicated that he realizes he significantly overpaid for the Mcgwire, Sosa, and others. There is nooooo way anything he has purchased is going up. Imagine what you could purchase in the way of historicaly significant memorabilia with those financial resources that would crush Bond's ball when you consider financial appreciation. I think Barry's berries have disappeared however.

Here's a surprise, HR Ball 756 is approaching the estimate of $500,000 and the auction is still going...who knows it may end up in out of space.

Now it's getting interesting. The Giants are letting Barry go. The thing is he's probably going to end up in the AL as a designated hitter. AL Teams are going to hesitate on spending much to obtain his services. Only potential World Series contenders are going to bother to get into the Barry Sweepstakes. Any guesses as to which team he's going to end up on?
