Default Flea Market find

Found this at a flea market today. Found just a handful of comps on eBay but was curious if anyone knows any info or the rarity of the item. Thought it was to cool to pass on.

Only thing that worries me is it looks SO nice. Hope it's not a repro.

I hope you did not pay a lot for this piece believing it is old and rare. Unfortunately it is neither. I would call this a fantasy piece as I don't believe an original old one ever existed.

It does look very nice I agree. I don't think I'm being biased when I say I believe it to be original. I could be wrong though.

So if this is a fantasy or fake piece...when were they made? There's different variations..some metal, some with a square frame and cardboard die cut like mine. Didn't realize they would do that.

There is actually a market for these retro signs, and I'd say they are being made every day.

Why do people frequently do "tell me if you think this real or not" posts and then when people line up to tell them it's fake they say they don't believe it. Why bother?

The OP did not ask that.

I was not asking if it was real or fake. Merely just info about it. And I'm not questioning anyone on this board. When it was mentioned about it being a fantasy piece I was inquiring knowledge if any about that.

I believe there were original, genuine versions-- at least I assumed so. There are a lot of modern reprints, or fakes if you want to call them that, easily identified by a metal eyelet (rimmed hole for hanging) near the top.

Found an old thread from 07 on here. The hole for hanging at the top is the dead giveaway for it being a repop. Its still $10 worth of cool to me.

Default Not vintage

These were made in 1990's. You can pick them up on eBay for $10-$15.

Check the paper with a black light and it will glow like a Christmas tree.

He asked people about the rarity of the item. And people said it's not rare but a fake. And then he said I'm going to chose to believe it's original.

At the point he said that, a total of one person had expressed the opinion it was fake. And in the same post the OP said he could be wrong. You keep mischaracterizing.

I "think I remember" the beautiful Lou Gehrig mitt as being re-issued within the last ten years. It would seem this was the tag that accompanied the mitt. It sure looks like the reproduction I remember seeing a decade ago. Hopefully you didn't pay a lot for it, but it sincerely is a sharp modern nostalgic item with perfect graphics that hearken to the late 20s. ---Brian Powell

Cool piece for a flea market "find". Even though its a repo/fantasy, it's still 20+ years old. Like you said, it's $10 worth of cool to you. I would've taken a chance on it too for $10 at a flea market.
