Default What kind of ball is this???

A friend picked up this old print thinking it was somehow baseball related...i'm not so sure. Just wondering if anyone knows what type of ball this child is holding and what time frame maybe? thanks for the help, Brandon

Wish a little more of it was visible, but it looks like a lemon peel ball. One cannot assume it is a baseball however. Probably not enough information.

My guess is that this print is after an English painting, c. 1825. Reminds me of Sir Thomas Lawrence....

That was my thinking; an English painting and a rounders ball.
