I read this poem earlier. Very apropos. Thanks for sharing. There is much to be thankful for.....We should be thankful we can collect cards together.....And those of us that are fathers should be thankful for our kids....They are the best!!

We are our passions, they speak loud in our lives. My children have loved me passionatly! Its nice to know that they have told me the same about me.

I would be a lot "less than", without them. I never knew that children would teach me so much that I needed to learn

Happy Father's Day to all Dads out there. I lost my Dad 2 years ago, wish he was still around.

I'm sure he was with me today at Church. Each year they honor a Father of the Year... announced as a surprise to the congregation. And it was me, my kids spoke, I cried.

I've been a Dad for just over 18 months now. I have two beautiful sons, one 18 months old and the other 7 weeks.

It may sound goofy to some but I truly feel like my life really began when they came along. I've had a lot of fun in my early years and thought I knew where I was going and who I was. But I now know that I am not simply me but someones Dad. And that makes me a better person everyday as I strive to not only raise my boys as great men but I become a better man trying to set a good example for them. And I am having more fun now than I have ever had in any other time of my life.

Happy Fathers Day to all you Dads. Tell your children you are proud of them as that is what they seek from your more than anything else.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but my dad and I saw Eisenstein's 1938 film classic Alexander Nevsky with the Prokofiev musical score performed live by the Seattle Symphony. The movie centers around a historical 13th century battle on a frozen Russian lake between the Russians and Germans. Numerous visceral battle scenes, including full armored knights charging across the ice on horseback, horses in armor and masks and soldiers falling through the ice.

My kids took me shooting for about 5 hours....how cool is that. I was just happy to be all together.

If you like the Alexander Nevsky soundtrack, which I agree is great, Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet soundtrack is also top notch, though more modern/experimental.

I've long been a big Rachmaninoff fan (Piano Concerto #2 of course), and I have no Russian heritage in me. My saying for the famous Russian composers is Tchaikovsky sounds Western, Prokofiev sounds Eastern, and Rachmaninoff sounds in between. I recently saw in person the Russian National Orchestra perform Rachmaninoff, though I must say that my impression is my home town Seattle Symphony is better.
