Default Ruth on Barnard ball

I am mainly a hockey and soccer guy, but in my searching, I came across this ball. I have no experience with Ruth autos, any opinions?

Thanks for your time.

Added a side panel photo...is the Gehrig a secretarial also?

That looks like a typical secretarial to me...

Sorry. Looks like a "Clubhouse" signature of Ruth, this style is seen around 1928-1929 on a lot of Yankees team balls.

Jeff is quite correct. It is a well-known clubhouse signature, used quite a bit in the late twenties. Many otherwise wonderful 1927 balls bear this signature.

Thank you for the replies. How about the Gehrig on the side panel? Also a "clubhouse"?

You will typically get the best, and fastest responses, if you show the whole ball initially :-)

My apologies! I understand, however, I didn't have the other photo until after it was posted.

Ruth 100% fake. It's a period secretarial with some value actually. It's not a forgery, but rather secretarial.....

From my experience, you don't really see Gehrig clubhouse signatures from the 1927-1929 era. I believe I may have saw one that was supposed to be a clubhouse Gehrig on an authentic team ball but it didn't even look close. Later in life you have to contend with wife signed items. This Gehrig looks like it should from circa 1928. There is still some good value in that ball, even though the Ruth is clubhouse, and depending on who else is on it.

Jeff is quite correct again. That's a c. 1928-1929 Gehrig.

This is a great thread. You've probably just seen a similar 'Ruth' signature on other genuine Yankee team balls, so it looked familiar.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I really appreciate the education! Those are the only two signatures on the ball.
