Default 1969 topps decals arent decals at all

Posted By: larry

does anyone know why all the books and dealers refer to these as 1969 decals
while topps called them magic ruboffs
it says so on the 69 wax box and on the wrappers

I would think it's just common usage based on how they look. Nobody collects 1964 Topps All Stars, they call that set Giants instead. Lots of sets are referred to by names other than what was on the wrapper.
