Default Frank Grant Photo ID's

I believe that the below 4 photos represent the only known images of HOF Negro League 2nd Baseman, Frank Grant. I find it very hard to believe that the 4 photos actually picture the same person. I would like to ask for opinions on which one(s) are truly Frank Grant and if anyone knows of any other images that exist?

3 of the 4 look like the same guy and the fourth one could be but it's hard to tell from the small image.

Default Grant Photos

I have seen all of those before but what years were they printed.

The first one appears to be an older man which I think is him but much later than 1888. The Buffalo team photo I believe is him too.

The wood cut - well it is a wood cut and some are good and some not so much.

The last negro team photo I have my doubts.

Although the text under the first photo says 1888, I'm sure that is not correct, it has to be much later than that. The woodcut is 1889, the Buffalo one is 1887 and the smallest one is 1902. The one that I am really doubtful of is the small one (from 1902 Philadelphia Giants team photo).

Mike:

Yes, it is and I also believe that it is the same image used on his HOF plaque in Cooperstown.

The 3 on the left are reasonably the same person, though the woodcut isn't the best quality. The small one - can't tell. I don't know of any other images

Thanks, Mark.

Can you give me your best guess as to approximate age in the first photo if we know that Grant was 21 years old in the Buffalo photo?

Here is the complete team photo for the small image of Grant, he is seated, second from left in the middle row.

Phil, isn't there an image of the 1905 team seated in a studio with suits on? Do you have a larger image of that team and is the same guy present in that shot? Perhaps my memory is fading but I seem to remember Philly Giants in that pose.

Jason:

Your memory is good, I just posted a scan of that pic. Frank Grant would definitely not be on that team, the picture quality is not that great so I don't know if you can tell if that individual is pictured there or not.

Probably about 30-40, but it's really hard to tell.

I still can't say anything about the small guy in your original post - the other scans really don't help.
