I don’t know anything but the l higher than the t is unusual. Also there is a stop at the y, he usually does a more confident follow through. That said I know nothing.

You will get responses if you repost this in the Autograph Forum which is a sub-forum of the Vintage Memorabilia Forum. I cannot offer an opinion as I do not know. Offering a somewhat opinion is useless.

Maybe it's the angle it's at, but I don't like it.

Yes, If you google "Best Wishes Mickey Mantle" under images, there's lots of examples that match up. This is a good earlier example imo.

Last name looks too straight across for my liking. Could just be the angle, and I will defer to others who feel it is good.

Thanks for the input so far.... looks like currently it’s a 50/50 split on who thinks it’s good vs fake. I thought it looked good compared to google images as well.

Much better than 50/50. Very reputable people saying it's good.

I would go with Chuck's opinion. He is very knowledgeable on Mantle, as are Chris, Shelley and Steve Z.

While the scan is too low-res to be 100% definitive, this appears to be a facsimile of an authentic example. Also indicative of this is the "Best Wishes" without personalization, commonly found on promotional items. It was exceedingly rare for MM to sign a photo in this manner. You'll encounter the odd side-paneled ball, but photos from this era of signature style are practically nonexistent.

Agree. Authentic, but it may be a preprint.

I got this in the mail yesterday. It is a neat piece because it is dated the same year Mantle was inducted into the HOF. It also tells when and where he was and the seller also linked me to this article that mentions his appearance. I need to get a magnifier on this to see if it is live ink. It looks like it because I can see the heavy and light strokes of the auto.... just want to be sure. Does anyone know any info or have this piece not signed? Thanks

Here's another copy of the same premium, signature pre-printed on the image:

MOST of the payment? If he sold it as an autographed flyer, why it not be all of the payment?

This may be due to ignorance on my part but I expressed I was still interested in the piece as I am a Mantle fan. I should also mention this was on Facebook marketplace and the seller was very responsive and apologetic for the situation. I linked him to this thread and explained the information that was found. We came to an agreed upon price and the seller is also sending me an additional item. I could have returned the item for full refund but did not.

Do a search on 'Mantle' and 'Matt Powell' and you will find this image - it is on a website that shows loads of Mantle premiums and should give you a better idea of other Mantle pieces you could look for.

Thanks I did do that... But the piece is actually "Watt Powell" and the site that shows the premium has "Matt Powell" by mistake. But I appreciate the info and will do more research next time.

That's interesting. I thought it said 'Matt', so I found it very quickly.
