Default Chicago Request

I wasn't sure if I were going to Chicago or not, but an early morning car wreck in which a woman sailed through a red stop light and then stomped on her accelerator instead of her brakes, has made the decision for me. With cracked ribs, lacerated knee, huge knot on my head and a terrific shiner, I will be staying home. Well, I am not looking for sympathy but rather to ask someone to post daily updates for those of us who couldn't make it. Thanks,
tbob

Did she at least kiss you first? That sounds aweful. You sound like you are in semi-ok spirits considering the circumstance...We will drink a cold one for you and see ya' at the next one. I am sure someone will give you updates...heck, this will be the first yr that I might consider carrying a laptop...(but I doubt it)...... Get well soon....regards....leon

TBob, are your cards OK?
Seriously, I am sorry to hear about your misfortune behind the wheel. Those injuries do not sound like much fun at all. You're one of the guys I was looking forward to meeting in Chicago. Sorry you won't be there.

Sorry to hear Bob. Hope your recovery is quick.

By the way...last thing you want to do is run a red light and hit a lawyer.

That sucks Bob.

But, lets look on the bright side. Just think of all the nice cards you can buy with the settlement money.

Get well soon. We'll keep you up to date.

Thanks to all of you who posted here wishing me well and also all the private emails I received. I know we have discussed before how fleeting and capricious life is but when something like this happens to you, you just appreciate life even more. The National is a great deal of fun and he cards are terrific but by far the best reason to go is to meet and hang out with fellow collectors. I know of no other society or group or hobby that can boast so many kind and thoughtful people. Maybe we seem a little "square" to others for collecting baseball cards, but I know that, although my only contact with many of you guys and gals is through the internet, that I have a lot of true friends.
I wish I could go to Chicago but, God willing, we will all meet up in Cleveland next year. have fun and be safe.

Bob, you dodged a bullet there; take care of yourself and at least stay out of the office for a few days.

I think I can speak for many here in stating that you will be missed in Chicago. However, there is a silver lining; I can take a room on a higher floor in Chicago without worrying about whether TBob's dark cloud will jinx the hotel

I hope she has a big umbrella policy.

Edited to add: that's the first time I think I've ever seen anyone wish to end up in Cleveland...

So sorry to hear that, Bob. I know it's a drag not to be able to attend the show, but it could have been so much worse.

Heal up quick.

So Tbob got t-boned? Very sorry to hear that, Bob. Enjoyed meeting you at last year's National and look forward to seeing you next year in Cleveland. Heal up and do what the medical people say, OK? Watch some Twins games and rest easy, maybe prescribe youself some 12 oz doses of amber medicine--not too many though, or you may end up with cracked ribs, lacerated knee, huge knot on your head and a terrific shiner.

Bob,

I just got around to this thread and I am very sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it to Chicago. You are one of the collectors that I always look forward to catching up with at the National.

Glad to hear that you are doing alright and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Scott

Bob - I hadn't bothered opening this thread previously because I'm not going to Chicago so thought it wasn't relevant, but I'm very sorry to hear about you r accident and am thankful you "escaped" with the damage that occurred. All the best for a speedy recovery (and large settlement).

Thanks again guys. The head is healing up as is the knee, so I don't look like Quasimodo now but the ribs are a killer. As anyone who has ever cracked his ribs can attest, each time you cough it sends you in to a bad place
I wish I were going to Chicago, not for the cards so much, because I have been able to buy a bunch on ebay lately, but I miss seeing you guys. It's a shame we only get together once a year. Oh well, there is always Cleveland...

I'll miss seeing you this year, my friend. But all is well as you'd probably only be harassing me and my Indians anyway. Ha! I truly hope all is well and that you quickly recover. E-mail me sometime when you get the chance. Take care, buddy!
