Default yes

A few weeks ago my email account was hi-jacked so every one of my contacts got a letter from me saying I was "king in the bedrrom" and then offered a link to viagra!

I swear I am not the new spokesman for Viagra!

Thanks to Bob Lemke and Steve (ladder7) I was able to stop it. I found that my account was compromised from a pharmacy web site I used to price out some anti-biotics!

is there something that can be done to block these guys before they start sending spam PMs? Obviously I'm not a prolific poster here so my opinion may not count for much. For what it's worth, I'm getting pretty darn tired of these PMs.

edit: what is the criteria for being a member here? How does an account named "Hotmailaccounts" even get approved?

I took care of the spammer approximately an hour ago. If ya'll report t to me, and I am around, I can take care of it. If you are getting tired of it I am sorry. I am too. You can apply for a full refund of your membership fees to our customer service dept.

That account never got approved but there are a lot of hackers for the software we use and they were able to post without being approved.

Edited to add. I am aware of this happening at most 4 times in the last 33 months. Each time it was caught within hours and fixed. I wouldn't call that too excessive, though it is more than it should be.

Sounds like college.

If this spamming is the only price I have to pay for access to the board, then it is one of the greatest bargains on the net.

Default couple other reports

Hey folks
I had a couple other reports of spam too. I think I had taken care of it though and folks had not let me know yet. I am sorry for the issue. When I went into the system I could see the USER ID of the spammer. Of course they had not been approved but were still able to post. I am positive it has to do with our s/w more than it does this particular board and I bet other forums that use our s/w get them too. I think there are some patches and updates to do but we haven't done those as there haven't been too many issues. Even if we do those I am not positive it will never happen again. Please just let me know when you see one, and what the user id is, and I can go ban or delete that ID. best regards

That was the culprit account and I banned it as soon as I was made aware last night (I was away for an hour or two at the grocery store and of course that is when it happened). There could have been one or two spams right after I banned it because they were still in the system. It should be all taken care of now.
