Default 1969 Pins

Found these in a collection this morning. They appear to be in brand new (mint- gem mint) condition, all pins are sharp no image missing. I've seen a few 'lots' sold on e-bay but still can't get a grasp on how much these would get.

Anyone familiar with the set know a value for all of these?

Also, I see high grade ones selling on ebay for some significant values, how much per do these cost to grade and would it be worth it if I got some very high grades?

Thanks much,

Sean

Sean,

The set is most unusual in that it features players whose careers were long over (e.g., Berra) along with players of the era when the pins were made. There is no evidence the pins differ in scarcity. If the HOF players are selling for more, it is because buyers/sellers have assigned greater value to them over the "common" players. I'm sorry I can't tell you what the set is worth, other than for you to do what you are already doing---monitoring their sales on eBay.

Default pins

Hi,
First you have to make sure they are the originals. The 1969 pins should say Winona, Mn on the side. If it doesn't say Winona then they are the reprints from around 1980 or 81.

I have a couple of hundred of these that I have taken to about 10 card shows. I get a lot of lookers but no buyers, and I have them priced at 20% of book value.

Good luck,
Rick

A couple of threads on these with some info - these appear to be the early '80s issue.

That would likely explain why they are such nice condition!

If you decide to trash those, I want a couple. I think a Handsome Warren Spahn pin would look great on my backpack.

I'll send them when I can get your other stuff out. Hopefully tomorrow.
