Default Beautiful and Non PC 1963 WS Banner Yanks Dodgers! Wild@!

16.5 by 25.5 inches, INCREDIBLE condition. The collection also had a 1965 cloth banner but I passed as it was yellowed too much, this one has very mild yellowing in the creases but is white overall and was put away on the bottom of the box of goodies!

This banner/display would NEVER be allowed to be printed today. Take a look at the sayings on this thing and you cringe! I'll not repeat them as they are in the photo. Incredible piece of history!

Does anyone know if these were sold at the ball park? Tough to find info but a few have sold on Worthpoint so they do exist of course. Not in this shape though! lol

This came in a collection that included original snapshot photos, programs, etc... mostly Dodgers stuff.

I have one of those as well. My nephew found it in a garage sale in Vegas. I think he paid a couple of bucks for it. What does worthpoint indicate as value?

I don’t want to know anyone who would cringe at this. If you’re that big of snowflake go live in a cave.

The innocently alliterative "Hang Howard" would probably raise eyebrows in today's world. (Cue Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit")

This one was around $400 back in 2014 and $995 in January 2018! The 1965 one that I referenced was also around $1000.

Thanks! Great piece for both of us but I probably paid a bit more than your garage sale find, Congrats on that!

I've got one as well, and there is one just outside the stadium club at Dodger Stadium. They seem to pop up every year or so.

"Mangle Mantle" is a little harsh, but other than that, the piece perfectly expresses how I feel about the Bronx Bombers.

Not surprisingly, they used some of the same terms for different players including "hang" and "klonk", as they were obviously just based on matching letter last names.

There was a "find" of a stash of the 1963 WS towels about 15 years ago. The dealer who had them at a National put them out 1 at a time, and I had never seen them before and thought they were super rare. After buying it, I walked by his table the next day and saw another one. Turns out he had several. The 1965 WS one is harder to find. There is also a Dodgers War Cry towel which is also pretty hard to find and dates to the 1962-64 period based on references to the Mets and the Colt 45's.

I wonder if their alliteration expert was fired after that towel went into production. They got it right at the end with "Sock Cincinnati," but completely dropped the ball (pun intended) on "Pulverize The Phils."

Fillet the Phillies?

I imagine these banners were sold at the Stadium versus mail-order. I used to have the Danny Goodman mail-order brochures and I'm pretty sure they weren't pictured in them. I do think they are pretty funny banners.

I agree with this. It’s always nice to see something new. I agree with Mark, never seen that one. As far as price, I would say 63 is $2-300. A nice Twins version like Dan's is more like $4-500. The one you show is really rare. Because they were made on a cheese cloth like fabric, the tend to tone especially when folded. Bottom line, I like em and think they are a great display.
