I can tell you that collectible classics and Lew Lipset use them and that they come highly recommended. Dan.

Thanks. Believe it or not, I currently use State Farm for my collectibles. I was told I'm their only customer with such a policy. They are not very proficient in dealing with any changes I submit to them, so I'm shopping around.

I use them.
Everything has been smooth so far. The lit. is very easy to understand and they do not require a detailed list or a group of scans.

I post this every time the thread topic arises.

I have no idea if they are good or not... but Chubb is a pretty reputable group.

I had State Farm before switching to the CIA policy (which is Hartford, BTW). State Farm was a thorough pain in the ass. I had to schedule every card, they messed up the descriptions frequently even though I gave them excel schedules that they could import, and the cost was more than the CIA policy.

Can't say for Chubb w/r/t collectibles, but I've tangled in the past with them on coverage for construction defect cases and they were pretty bad on those.

I just signed up this past year after Ben's fiasco. Most of my valuable cards are in a safety deposit box, but I felt that it could not hurt to protect my collection from theft, fire, flooding (after the contents of a neighbors safety deposit box were totally destroyed by flooding two years ago), etc. Their rates are extremely low compared to a rider on a typical homeowners policy and as stated previously their paperwork reads easily.

A second thought relative to collections. If you care what happens to your cards after you are gone be sure to include an ammendment in your will. If your executor has no idea what a T206 is, or worse yet, who Ty Cobb is, chances are someone that is not a relative will profit from your lifetime of collecting. In my will I have left a detailed list of cards and values so that the people I have left my collection to are not interested at least they can receive fair compensation. I can update my inventory yearly with my lawyer.

Two nights ago a house in our neighborhood (several streets away) was hit by lightening during a bad storm and was declared a total loss after the fire was finally put out. I intend to be insured b/f the end of the month as that was literally "too close to home."

and have been doing so for a few years. They have been nothing short of terrific. If you are going to the National, I understand they will have a Corporate booth.

I just signed up with them and it was very easy and less costly than the others I found. One caveat is to make sure that you keep some record of the proof of purchase of a big part of your collection, as the small print says you might need that in case of a loss. I'm thinking that a fire that take out the whole house would get the collectionk, and your old records. So I keep my receipts off site.

...are protected by the CIA! Never had to make a claim (thank goodness) but I have been very pleased with their system thus far.

I scan everything and keep a back-up off-site. Best proof of all that you owned it is to have a picture of it.
