LA SportsMuseum?
Hmmm ... the items on displays (especially the Babe Ruth fur coat) sounds like the contents of Gary Cypres' LA sports museum.
http://www.sportsmuseumla.com/ Wonder if he made a loan to the Reagan Library. Cheers, Patrick |

My minor brush with fame is I once out of the blue got a phone call at home from the Director of the Reagan Library. At the time I had a bunch of Reagan family photo albums, papers and personal items that originally belonged to Nancy and her mom, and he inquired about them. For the record, he was polite and friendly. Most of the albums and papers were eventually purchased by the Reagan Ranch/Young America Foundation, which is housed on Reagan's former home & ranch in Santa Barbara.
Interesting obscure Presidential factoid of the day: Did you know that Nancy Reagan's dad (Loyal Davis) was an internationally famous brain surgeon and the longest serving chairman of the neurosurgery department at Northwestern University? A wing at a major Chicago hospital is named in honor of him. I learned this because some of the papers in the collection originated from him. Example original candid Kodak snapshots from the photo albums. The first two were likely shot by Nancy and the backs of most of the photos had captions handwritten by Nancy. Her captions were sometimes funny (She indeed has a sense of humor) and she always referred to Ronald as "Ronnie": Ronald and Maureen posing in the backyard. Ronald goofing around at a picnic Ronald joking with some big wig at a formal dinner Ronald and a Japanese leader wearing bibs at the dinner table. Fair to assume they were served lobster. Yes, the items on display are from the Gary Cypres collection. There was an article in the local paper today, including an interview with Gary.

Given that the Gipper was afflicted with dementia, wonder if he was even aware that the saddle he was "riding" was on a stationary stand and not a horse.
