What a fantastic price!! And to think, just a few months ago, I had an absolutely horrible time selling this same card in a PSA 6 with a qualifier!! Go figure!

I know, its weird how the market hits. When i was selling my Mantle collection, it was hot, then cold at times. But they eventually all sold now, with big thanks to Sterlings ending last night.

The 51 Bowman Mays PSA 7oc is ENDING TODAY 8/7/2015!!!
Sometime around 5:30pm EST i believe.
It amazes me to see over 286 views and 28 watchers. Kinda expecting there may be some last minute sniping to be seen.
Thanks for everyone that has looked and bidded as well. I appreciate all the help out there.

Nice, went for a little more than I was expecting. Hopefully that was a good result, I'm sure it went for more than you're in it.

I am shocked myself. That extra 500 snipe at the end too!
The top bidder still won and is satifisfied. He paid already and ask to wait to ship (so he be there to sign for it).
Awesome sale indeed. And did it myself on Ebay and not use Probstein/Pwcc
BTW- did you guys notice the dead centered sgc55/4.5 that ends in 3 days
It is at 1269 now by vccllc. And the one MattyC sold was a PSA3 dead center for 1850 in Probstein.

Me personally, I think that some bidders are purposely avoiding PWCC and Probstein, because they just assume the prices are going to go through the roof.

pwcc gets strong prices so it doesn't matter if someone is avoiding them.....as long as they sale strong who cares..

Sgc 4.5s are valued by many in PSA 3 range...cant assume will cross over and can never assume will get .5 grade as very few cards get the .5....anyone that's into PSA will probably bid just above PSA 3 range... so around 2000 would appear to be right (assuming no paper loss etc ) unless its someone that wins that doesn't care about PSA....there are some bidders out there like that left but as mentioned in other threads, that number is dwindling... though the main cards like mantle, mays rookies etc sometimes can get a big bid at the end as well at least a much better chance than the non iconic cards....we shall see

there was a mays signing that was supposed to go off in march. people were buying up the lowgrade rookies for the event. from that initial price surge prices kept going up. i was looking for one, cards going for $300-$400 suddenly became $600-$700.

I would expect this card in an SGC 4.5 to bring PSA 4 money, or very close to it. That being said, MattyC's psa 3 mays brought about 4 money any way, so you might not be far off on the price. I think if you could get it at 2k that would be a great buy.

That's true, that one and the Mantle are very hard to find centered in even higher grades and almost impossible in low grade. Same with a lot of cards I've been looking at actually. Centering is certainly at a premium right now with many collectors.

centering and big name cards are always important especially when the hobby as a whole is in danger in the future....right before the housing crash..only waterfront property was keeping their prices in florida....
