Recently picked this up as a one-off item. Anybody else have these or know how many cards in the set?

I found this: http://www.sportscards.info/Basketball/index.htm

Jeff is saying that its from 56. Either he made a mistake or PSA did?

Jeff sold me the card--I would say that most likely Jeff is correct and PSA is wrong. The set is not listed in the last SCD book I have.

Jeff is getting his MBA and sold most of his collection to Chad, myself and perhaps some others to fund part of it.

I have tried to engage Jeff several times about Kahn's, no go (no reply to emails). I last had contact a couple of years ago.

Thanks Jim. I was hoping he would have been at the National to help me coordinate a get-together for basketball collectors (separate from Leon's dinner or the PSA luncheon), but he didn't attend.

Jim:

A little more information about the card that used to be called the Cousy Hood Trabler Card. It is now called the the 1963 HP Hood Dairy card. According to the article that Jeff Mullen wrote for Beckett with supporting information from hank Reizes their are only 35 of these cards known to exist. I bought one a few years ago from the daughter whose father work for the Hood Dairy during the 1960's. They found the card when they were cleaning out his desk when he retired. I looked for the card for more than 20 years.

I see there is a bit of discussion on the year of the Cousy Hood Dairy card. Jeff is incorrect with 1956. Hank Reizes actually contacted Bob Cousy a year of two ago and got a letter confirming the year the card was produced and it is slightly younger than that. He sent the information to PSA. Thus, believe the date that PSA is placing on the card holder.

Jeff has done a lot of good things the last few years with his website information. However, his website and Beckett write-ups are laced with mis-information. That was one complaint I voiced to him years ago. With the volume of info he placed on the website, there was really no time to correct his mistakes. I think we should attempt to get the right information out there to correct mistakes and make sure our hobby doesn't go down the wrong path.

Here is an image of my 3 Hood Cousys.

Regards, Pat

I spoke to Hank today and confirmed that Cousy first used the Hood card in 1963. He continued to use these cards from 1963-66. Hank has a letter from Cousy stating this.

This I have never gotten a clear answer to: is it pronounced Cousy as in lousy or Cousy as in floozy?
