Default 2nd October (Mid-Month) Pickup Thread

Since we are back to the old problem of the pickup thread taking forever to load, I thought it would be appropriate to start a new "MID-MONTH" pickup thread.

Here's a new type card for my PCL catcher type card collection.

they aren't vintage, but they feature famous prewar cards:

actual framed paintings on canvas. the Cobb and Wagner measure 15x26 inches, and the Ruth 18x21.

granted, they're crude paintings from an unknown artist, but would something like these do well in a Mastro auction? i bought all three for $54 shipped. i've seen paintings like these go for at least $100-$150 each

The beginning of my T-206 Cardinals team set, they're not the best of condition, but that's okay by me:

i picked up around 400 auto'd 3x5 card of the pirates from a very advanced pirates/royals collector here in des moines, i have know him for the last 15 years. this is just an amazing group of all pirates auto's. included with the 3x5's are personal checks, cards, clippings, etc. glued on many of the 3x5 cards are stat sheets for the player or a small pic. i am still going through all of them but so far the players included in this lot are from late 1890s to late 50's, with a few 60's-90's. there are quite a few that only had 1-3 years in the pros. obviously, he hadnt put as much effort into players after the 60's. since i only collect iowa bb items i will prob keep only a few and be passing the rest off to a pirates or auto collector in the near future. email me if your one of them.

I got the '33 Goudey and the '34 Goudey earlier in the month. I was able to get the V100 tonight, which was a card that board members kindly gave me their opinion on.

Well, I'm on my way to putting together a 2nd T206 set.

At the recent Ft. Washington Show a young fellow walked
in with this collection. We had done several deals before
so he came directly to my booth. Upon close observation
of the cards, I proposed a subsequent cash/trade deal.
And, today we consummated this deal.

This collection consists of 3 diff. Cobb's & 61 HOFamers
and 340 diff. players. It includes some rare backs; and,
the overall average condition of these cards is Ex.

Went to a small card show today and actully picked up some decent vintage stuff. Actully there weren't many vintage dealers there but a few with goudeys, T's, and a few E's. It was a nice suprise seeing a group of dealers there who we had bought from at the national in July. My big hits were a great t210, 53 Topps Paige, Jo Jo White DS, Al Lopex batter ups, and a 48 Bowman common with a great catcher pose.

From eBay seller "rosened" who auctioned off a large run of Zeenuts over the past few months and whose auctions were always accompanied by interesting and informed commentary. If you read this board, Ed, thanks and a tip of the Hatlo hat for a job well done.

Ebay pickup...last two E98 Cobbs I saw were both GAI 1.5s in the July 19c auction. I paid nearly the same as what they went for. This one's green, the other two were the blue and red.

Here are three Pinkerton postcards that I picked up in August at an estate sale. Just got them back from SGC. I know they are not very pretty, but I haven't seen many for sale, so I still think I am pretty fortunate in getting them.

Jamie--I had the full set at one point. The source of these cards was the Cardinals. If you sent in a request to the team asking for player autographs they sent you a full set of these cards for free. I sent away when I was a kid and got the group. If I remember correctly there were roughly 25 cards in the set.
