And it's got 122 bids...that's pretty amazing.

I hope it's everything it's supposed to be. Do you know how many kegs of good draught beer you can buy with 210K? I have no idea.

I've decided to sell my house and use the money to buy this bottle of beer.

Do you think I should clear it with my wife first? Would she mind?

They only get absolute record prices on Colgans Tin Tops and most everything else they sell related to sports....I don't think they have ever done Beer...but if I had some I would certainly consign it to them....or any one of the other valued board banner advertisers. After all, the advertisers support the hobby and this board...so I hope all members will support them too.....If anyone needs any help they can always contact me as I do know who to speak with at each company....

Quan,

I really do not think a person from this board is bidding on this bottle of beer. Or that the current bidders even know of this place. I could be wrong though, Rich are you going for this would be great sitting on a shelf next to your newly acquired Pirate set?

Bobby,

You're right, no one on this board would bid on that:
clearly the seal is trimmed.

Whoever is bidding this assinine ($300,000+ as I write this) price most likely isn't doing it for the collectibility of the bottle from a brewery aspect, they must be after the beer itself (like a wine collector). Either that or someone is after it from the history standpoint.

I've been collecting rare brewery advertising for thirty some years and have never seen such a ridiculous price for a single item (although if someone is willing to pay 2 million dollars for a baseball card who knows)

OK, being of the suspicious nature, I'll ask what I think is an obvious question: Why so much action on this when there still are two days to go? Think about the five-figure cards you've seen sell on eBay. Most of the ones I remember had the seriously high bids coming in at the end. Ditto for very high-ticket items I've seen in other areas of collectibles that have sold on the Bay. So why, assuming that all these bidders are familiar with the eBay system, would so many have pushed the price so high so (relatively) quickly?

Man, sorry about the multiple posts. I kept checking, and it appeared my first couple attempts didn't go through. My bad.

The connection to the Franklin Expedition would no doubt make this bottle quite valuable, but, gotta admit, 1/2 mil. is breathtaking.

I don't understand the hysteria. Does it taste great, or is it just less filling?

My guess is that nobody will ever know.
