Default 1915 Nebraska Cornhuskers Fraternity baseball team Alpha Sigma Phi

Captioned "Alpha Sigma Phi Base Ball Team" and mailed from Lincoln Nebraska in 1915. Guess there aren't any future major leaguers ( Cornhusker Major Leaguers ).
Back is printed upside down, so I left it that way in the photo. ;-) Pretty common with real photo printed postcards from this era.

Whoohee Jeff
That is a fantastic shot of the Babe!
Instantly one of my favorites.
Are you sure though it wasn't produced in the 70's?

Those last 2 postcards are phenomenal. The RPPC of Ruth in the game is one of my faves I have seen. Very cool.

Default Ruth and Gehrig and Joe

The Ruth and Gehrig was snapped on August 27, 1927 at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis. The New York Yankees defeated the St. Louis Browns 14-4 with Ruth, Bob Meusel, and Earle Combs hitting home runs for the Bronx Bombers before 7,500 disappointed Browns fans.

The DiMaggio, one of his scarcest postcard issues, was issued by Gillette Safety Razor of Mexico.

Default My Gillette Safety Razor

SPORTINGOREGON

I have yet in 20 years to finally see another Gillette Safety Razor of Mexico postcard. I have a Ted Williams from the same company, a similar issue, the only I have seen until this afternoon. The DiMaggio is awesome, and would make a MAGNIFICENT set with my Williams.

The Pebble Beach DiMaggio is also AMAZING!

Default 1913 World Tour advertising postcard

Probably not many of these around. It rained so much that day that Giants outfielder Sherry Magee made a one-handed catch while holding an umbrella over his head with the other hand. The Giants won 3-0 in a game called at the end of the sixth inning. Tickets cost $2 apiece. For more visit http://www.sportingoregon.com - always buying!

Here'a a fine 1912 Boston Red Sox RPPC (Joe Wood is holding his daughter in the back row, also includes Tris Speaker and Harry Hooper). Also picked up a 1948 Indians Team Issue postcard of Larry Doby.

Incredible Red Sox postcard Jeff!

Keeping with the '12 Red Sox theme, I just got this 1912 Boston American Series PC of Tris Speaker in the mail today.

One more, just back from Beckett today.

Edit: Any info anyone has on this PC would be appreciated as well. Photo looks like an un-cropped version of the FP Burke postcard. The postcard is oversized and has an undivided back. Only seen one other example. Thanks!!

I don't grade with SGC so wouldn't know. Is there some history with this card that I don't know about, or you just wondering why I grade with Beckett?

Was wondering if SGC had an opinion about it.

Looks legit to me from the scan, the only other I have seen was cropped slightly off if I recall correctly.

Yeah it's a strange postcard. First of all it's oversized. The back calls it a "mailing card". And the stamp box says "POSTAGE If Writing 2 Cents Without Writing 1 Cent". I've never seen another stamp box that determines postage based on writing (although I've not been collecting postcards very long)

Here's a link to the only other example I've seen. Unfortunately not a lot of info in the description like who made it. http://www.legendaryauctions.com/mob...d-and-jennings.

Thanks, I was pretty happy with the price on the Speaker, was actually prepared to go quite a bit higher. Yeah the back is marked up pretty good, but I was just happy to get a Speaker postcard. Seems like he doesn't have a lot out there for whatever reason.

Default Cobb buys insurance

Roy Corhan had a few cups of coffee in the big leagues with the White Sox and Cardinals, and was a mainstay for the PCL SF Seals from 1912-1920, appearing on Zeenuts most of those years. He umpired after his playing career, and also sold insurance.

Here he is "signing up" Ty Cobb in front of the "booze cage" at Rec Park in SF.
