Default Topps 1968 game cards

Anyone else collect them ? You could get them via pack inserts or a boxed set, which is tougher to come by today, particularly sealed. I have a boxed set and a set of inserts. Came across a few oddities in putting it together

I remember getting those in packs, but I don't remember the boxed set. At 15 cents for the box that would have been the best way to pick those up!

I have a set I put together years ago. I haven't seen many boxed sets.

Those offsets are neat.

Oh yes i remember, the box is very rare Al but i'm sure you know it very well! game cards fairly common do to close-out release
they were patterned from 1951 red/blue backs, that box set was extremely limited back in 1968 i did see them once
at a newbberrys dep store i used to go to here in the west coast, but only that once, the cards were introduced in 3rd series wax and cello packs like the ones in the piccs which is important to know! because there is a number of series
1 & 2 packs, around with the game card which means there are either home made or fake!

Never seen the box before. Pretty cool. I have one or two Mantles, but nothing else. I feel like this is a very under appreciated set.

I need a Mantle in nice shape to complete my set, if anyone has one to trade.

Pepis mentioned that the 68 game cards inserts first appeared in the Third Series.
I was just wondering in how many of the series's the game cards were used?
4th & 5th also?

Hey Al

I have a set of these. Didn't seem like any of them were really tough to get either. Fairly easy set to complete. Mine is raw in mid grade too so maybe a high grade slabbed set is tougher. I don't know.

I've never seen the boxed set. That's very cool. Thanks for sharing that.

Best regards

I know I am late to the game here but I do like the 1968 Topps Game inserts. And, I have NEVER seen the box. I did not know it even was distributed that way, just thought in packs only.

I collect them too cause they are cool and affordable

like 2 or 3 years ago I paid 125 for the above Mantle which I thought was quite inexpensive for a high grade

A classic Topps insert, one of their best. One thing I have never been able to determine is if all 33 cards came in the Batter Up Deck or if it was just a random sampling.

I was curious to know that as well. From the box I would believe all 33 are in there but I could very well be wrong.

Either way, it is a neat insert and for someone like me who is not a set builder for the regular issues (of baseball anyway), this is a fun and affordable insert set to complete.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to see someone else working on a master set.

I like the 68 Topps game cards as well. Very cool insert. I'm shocked out how affordable the set is. I think someone had one on the BST for roughly $35 the other day. No where else, that I know of, can you pick up a 33 card set with such stars for so little money.

Was bumping around on the HA Sunday auction and ended up winning this "uncut sheet" set. I couldn't find much on the internet, other than a 2013 REA auction where a full sheet of three sets was auctioned off. I'm guessing I bought a 1/3 sheet, "full set" uncut. I'm going to frame it, and hang it in my office. I have a Pete Rose that I bought in the 70's at a card show with lawnmower money.
