Default Jackie Robinson cards

Have Jackie Robinson cards seen an increase in price since the movie came out?

I purchased a 1953 Topps (VG condition) and a 1956 Topps (BVG 4) a few years ago and it seems like they are going for about double of what I paid for them.

There was a bit of a bump after the movie but those sets in General have increased quite a bit in the last few years

As someone who has exclusively collected Jackie cards, I have seen a noticeable increase in mid-to-high grade Jackie cards. I do attribute the increase to two things:

1) the movie
2) this being Mariano Rivera's last year

Both have kept Jackie Robinson on people's minds throughout the course of the year, and I know that each has inspired collectors to pick up a key Jackie card or two.

Default J. Robinson Cards

I'm glad I picked up some when I did. I got the 1953 raw and sent it to SGC to be graded. I think I picked up the 1956 card graded for less than $50!

He's part of the pantheon of baseball--he's always in demand. I try to pick up oddball regional and other limited issue cards because they are so much harder to find. Here are a couple of nice fan mail reply cards I picked up a while ago:

Love the cards Adam. I am an oddball collector myself, so I always enjoy seeing your pickups. It often amazes me what value you can get in the odd team issued photos, cards, premiums, etc.

I don't collect Jackie Robinson myself as I could never afford to do both him and Mantle but he has some awesome cards.

Yes they have. I checked out prices prior to the movie release, back in February. I picked up a 1956 Robinson in PSA 3 for $53.

Theres one current sold at $61(with pretty bad centering all ways) and none others lower than the 70's.
