Default Source of these '1894' team composites?

Hi, I picked these up earlier in the year under the assumption that they were supplements. After removing them from the frame, it's obvious that they're thin and semi-glossy finish. The dimensions are 5 3/4" x 9." Are these simply cut outs from a 19th or early 20th century publication and does anyone know the dimensions of the actual supplements? Thanks. George

The printing is period. They are not modern reproductions.

yeah- they're for sure pulled out of some sorta booklet. I saw them for sale too. I've never seen an actual supplement/premium made of these images. The only one that comes to mind is the, 1892 NY Recorder supplement 9" x 10" or so.

Thanks guys! Yes, I'm in agreement that it's period BUT that it came out of some sort of publication. In fact, you can see the staple holes which would confirm that it is not stand-alone. This is one of the risks with buying things already framed...regardless it displays well so that's a good thing

Albert, I'm familiar with NY Recorder supplements and there are a few more but not many.

I do believe that the 1894 supplement does in fact exist and someone was selling it at some point last year. I'm including the picture although not sure of the dimensions and paper thickness...I think that one is a legitimate supplement but would need someone else on the board to chime in with the dimensions, paper thickness etc.

That looks exactly like your page. It looks like the staples were trimmed off. The dimensions look "book" like.

There was a large composite of the Orioles in an 1894 publication (Leslie's Illustrated?), but it's easy to identify because it has text on the back. It was a full page part of the publication, not a supplement.

Hi David, yes I think this is the Leslie's that you are referencing and to your point, it's definitely part of the publication.

Albert, that's an interesting observation regarding the bottom being trimmed. I don't recall the seller but this could be confirmed based on the dimensions and paper stock.

I have this.

Measures 9" by 5 1/2" though I can see that the bottom 1/2" or so has been trimmed off.

Thin stock. Blank back.

Cant recall where I got it or where it came from.

Edit: I believe these are the poses for the unique Alpha Engraving set.

Thanks for confirming the dimensions on yours...they do appear to have come from the same source. That's very interesting regarding the alpha engraving set. I thought those were Baltimore only and I think the NY photos are from the N300 set. But makes me wonder if there ever was a NY set of alpha engravings...doubtful but interesting nonetheless.
