Default Never seen so many Koufax RC's!

Was watching and bidding on a few PWCC auction cards tonight and noticed many graded Koufax cards. Never seen so many in one place, especially nice ones like they had.
Wasn't it an "8" that sold for over $80,000 not that long ago?

Probstein auction sold an 8 a few days ago for 25k..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-Topps-1...IAAOSwzJ5XdTbn

whats wierd is big price differences in same auction a 1954 Aaron psa 7 sold for 12.7k with pwcc and minutes later another one with pwcc sold for 8k (not centered like the 12.7k one) still 5k is a big difference in price when you are talking of a price range of 8-13k ....same auction on 7/17/16 with pwcc

Just noticed quite a few Clemente RC's too! Is it me, or are these coming out of the woodwork?

That also went on tonight with some cards I noticed. I wasn't able to copy and paste it, but I believe a 5.5 Clemente sold for less than a Clemente 5?

half grades really dont mean much when the base is 6 or less for early 50s topps.......centering etc more than makes up a half grade ..you will see auction houses round down to base grade for SMR, if you really care about SMR

someone 'sold' their psa 8 rookie clemente today for 100k+

Wow, prices are all over the place!

Quite a few Robinson and Aaron's tonight too!

Never seen so many of the same card in one auction before! Has me wondering, is this one guy with multiple copies or did many send in their cards at the same time?

Lots of Frank Robinson too??

Yes they're coming out of the woodwork, but by that I simply mean that investors holding highly desirable grades of these cards are rationally responding to the market.

Even if you didn't know the market as well as these investors probably do, if you buy/hold/sell for investing purposes, and you're holding these cards in highly desirable condition, and you're seeing quick and major price increases, you would be unloading now too, wouldn't you?

Some decide to sell and some decide to continue to hold onto them.

My gut tells me, with the shear number of the same card in the same auction, that these are being sold by one, or a couple guys at most, who have dupes/multiples of the card they are auctioning?

I forget the exact numbers, but there had to be at least 7-8 nicely graded Koufax's that all came due within seconds of each other. (If that means anything?)
The same goes for the Aaron's and others as well.

I was wondering if the Koufax I posted above was the same card as this one that sold for over $80,000 a short while ago.

Found it and seen that it wasn't.

Are we now seeing a correction/bubble bursting time or is this just a hiccup?

Let's see: the price of a commodity goes way up and lots of examples come up for sale and prices are unstable. That doesn't sound at all like a market reaching towards equilibrium.

We've seen the same thing happen repeatedly with hot cards. Heck I remember when prices on 1950s cards went up 20x between 1976 and 1980. Cards poured out of attics and basements and prices came back to earth.

Good point, but I can't imagine holding in this market, if your collecting purpose is strictly investment/profit. Not to say that the market can't go higher, but with this crazy of a short-term increase I'd take the money and run, not hold even longer on the obscure chance that this market will become even more irrational.

I'm sure there are some of those that struggle with this question everyday, and I am as equally sure there are those that wish they had of sold sooner, and some who wished they had held on longer.

This hobby, as most know, has had peaks and valleys since collecting likely began, and I am sure there are some who got quite lucky and I'm sure there are those who are likely still crying.

I think, no matter what anyone says about the buy or sell game, it comes down to a personal choice only, as it should, imo.

Agree with everything you've said here.
