Default 1967 Topps Venezuelan Lajoie "Retirado"

Posted By: Rob Dewolf

I don't buy or sell many post-1960 cards and have almost no familiarity with the 1967 Topps Venezuelan issue. I did place what I thought, based on looking at prices on VCP for other cards from this issue, was a pretty aggressive snipe ($388.88) on a Lajoie that ended today on eBay. Here's the link:

Judging by the fact that the winning bidder apparently had three snipes set at the end, my guess is I simply ran into someone who just had to have this card.

Is there something I'm missing with this issue and with the Lajoie card in particular? I'd welcome thoughts/opinions on the price this one realized.

Thanks, Rob.

Hi Rob - I don't know much about the set, but often times one snipe will show up several times in the bidding history. I believe it may have to do with the sniping company's software - perhaps sending the same snipe three times will ensure it gets placed.
