I have had many successful transactions with them. They may overgrade something a bit here or there, but its never off by more than 1 grade.

At least that's been my experience with them.

Ken,

I am considering working on that set or at least picking up most of the stars from it. I have the Musial and a couple of commons. Despite it only having 160 cards, it seems like it could take a while trying to find well centered examples, especially 113-160. How far have you gotten/what grade are you shooting for?

Robert ,
Actually , that card and some others are recent
pickups for my 51 to 53 St. Louis Browns team
set . Want to get 1 card of every player pictured
in a "Browns" uniform . The "set" currently is made up
with cards from 52 Topps , 51 & 52 , and now , 53 Bowman.
Think I'm just about finished ....... gonna' have to get a 53 Topps
Paige though . Condition wise , the cards are all in the vg to ex.
I consider myself a conservative grader,so some may be a better grade.
For me , anything in that range is fine ....... actually I often find 2 cards
of the same player/card that I think looks better in ,say, a vg/ex as opposed
to an ex. "Eye appeal" for me , is what counts .
As for how tough a 53 Bowman set , in nice condition , would be to build.....
probably the same as any of the others from that time period ? Time and $$
and how much of each you can afford to spend on it.
Good luck if you decide to go for it ,
Ken
.
.
PS ..... guess I better start looking for a decent Paige

Gotcha! That is a cool project you have going. That '53 Paige is one of the all time greatest post-war cards for my money. And I agree, mid-grade with eye appeal is the way to go. Best of luck!
