Default October Pickups

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I own these two cards.

I recently had my first go-round with flipping a collection. 12 near sets sold over the course of 2 months. They were priced well for resale and I found a buyer with whom I was able to establish a really solid connection.

I used the profits to nearly complete my 1951 Bowman set (still need Ford and Dickey).

I LOVE the Mays. PSA3 looks real solid to me for condition. It's a little O/C, but this cards almost always is. A nice clean back without stains is a major bonus for me as I feel like 51 Bowman has those issues all the time!

And as a Yanks fan, it doesn't get any better than Mickey. The MC doesn't really bother me, it's pretty much the same as Mays. I'm just glad he's unobscured and there are no creases or wrinkles going through the major parts of the card.

Some may see this as an investment piece, but I don't ever see these cards changing hands (unless I get a chance at a major upgrade!)

Close. It's the same image from his '63 Topps, not '66.

Recent pickups, with the Seaver RC from a fellow board member -- put together a good old fashioned multi-card trade + cash deal. Thanks Brian!

Darren - great Mick. That's the only playing-era Mantle I own

Jason - awesome Clemente, one of my favorite cards of all time. I read your sig and, since I'm a passionate player collector, I really think you should start a Feller thread and show us some of your items.

Just received these in the mail. The 56 Mays puts me another card closer to finishing my Mays run. Very happy to add the 81 Bench. Very difficult to find this card centered. I wished it did not have the print issue at the bottom but that is very common with this card. I have been wanting a Kaline rookie for a long time and finally added this one.

Soon to be freed for the binder...almost too OC for me but I do love sharp cornered cards. 37 left for 61...almost there!

Speaking of Clemente's '66 card I am anxiously awaiting this to arrive. If sharp corners are your thing then this card won't measure up but to me the image is outstanding.

A little OT as it is a wire photo and not a card but happy to acquire this vintage image as well.

This eBay purchase arrived today, the last of the three short prints I need for my set. Mantle and Snider remain.
FYI the trademark "HYLO-IZED" (used by the DanDee Pretzel and Potato-Chip Company) expired in 1992.

As bag fresh as that Cooper looks, I would still caution you not to eat the chips.

Nice card!

I am currently looking for a higher graded/slabbed 52 Topps Of Cooper.
My son has the exact same first 2 names, and like him, he also goes by Walker.

My Gibson came today...it's trimmed. Bummer...left to right. I can see it now in the scan. In hand its really obvious, put it up to a 61 common, just shook my head.

John that's really a shame. They butchered that card on the right side, ugh. Hope you can get a refund.

Got this the old-fashioned way, in person at a card show. Then went home and checked how I did vs. ebay and realized that, yes, I overpaid! Alas, my skills aren't what they used to be!

Don't care though, it's Kaline and I'm a Tiger fan.

Nice color on that Kaline! Not too shabby for a 3.5.

Still a really nice looking Kaline. It only hurts when you pay. After that the memory of the transaction fades and you are left with one spectacular addition to the collection!
Congrats.

This 1952 high number has been on my wantlist for years. I now only need a '52 Topps #354 Fred Hatfield to complete a Topps run of 1952 to current Detroit Tiger base cards
