This one wasn't going to get by anyone as it was listed in the correct category. I do the pre-1900 category search every single day and I'm sure most everyone else here does as well.

when an auction is in the correct category...you have no chance of it slipping through the cracks on here. if it was in a weird section and you want it badly enough keep it to yourself and take a chance on the item in question at a low price

It is in the proper category so it will be seen by most that care about this stuff. Bidding is already taking off so hopefully the seller figures out that it will be worth their time to let the auction run it's course.

daryle; You may not know of this practice; It is board courtesy to refrain from posting active auctions until the hammer drops. After that, ask away. Thankyou

Bid but then the riot started. Do you really think this card would actually gotten by you guys or any other collector that is familiar with these cards? Anyway, sorry that I breathed and asked a simple, not intended to start a riot question. I only asked beacuse as I said, I knew what the card probably was before I ever clicked on it after I read the "Cleveland" and the "Boyd" part in the auction title knowing that there was a Boyd in that set, but was unfamiliar with the "look" of the cards, beacuse to me, its looks thin, like newer card stock. I thought this was part of this forum, to ask questions, discuss cards/sets, and to learn something new. Once again, I apologize and will never ask another question, or post information on here regarding an auction (via eBay or anyplace else), even if I have knowledge of it being fake or altered. I will have no hard feelings to anyone who responded to me for mentioning this auction. I came to this forum to make friends and to learn more about vintage cards, even though I've been collecting for 25 years, just not vintage for the entire 25 years. I will be on here daily and hope no one holds this against me. As I said, I'm here to make friends and to enjoy my beloved hobby, and to possibly be of help to someone in the future regarding a question about a card, sets, on any information that I may have knowledge of. Gonna forget this ever happened. Good luck to those who bid...........................

Daryle

It isn't a matter of you asking questions or posting. It is forum etiquette on every board I have ever been on to not post a live auction.

Say you find a hidden auction and someone post is. All of a sudden a card that was getting no bids goes through the roof. As a result instead of you maybe getting a nice card cheap you either end up paying through the nose for it or not getting it at all.

It isn't about not asking questions or asking about auctions but you should do it after the auction ends.

If you are really that worried about it being a fake card, you can either take a chance, or contact someone privately that could help you.

It would be a shame to not ask questions and contribute to a board just because of this.

If you haven't been on a forum there is a learning curve, just like anything else. Hopefully now you know better and will continue to ask questions and post.

I am sure there is no disrespect or bad blood but it is a common courtesy thing.

Good Luck

James Gallo

I wouldn't take exception to what anyone has said here. There are people here that do get touchy about auctions being brought up before they are over. To me is a bit anal....there isn't a person on here who is not aware of ebay...and not aware of the one section of ebay pertaining to pre-1930 cards. The only time I personally would ever have a problem with it is when someone would post an auction that they are running as the seller...that I'd have a problem with. But the card is going to go for what it's worth period....not like it was going to slip through the cracks and go for $70. By the way....many people on here myself included have posted a real/fake post.....just because this one turned out to be real some people take offense? Come on....

This auction had no chance of staying hidden...it wasn't in the pottery and china section....lot of people post auctions LIVE about authenticity..just because this one is authentic isn't a reason to make daryle feel like he cant post here....

At no point in time did I say Daryle couldn't post here, quite the opposite all I did was explain the thought behind why people were "mad" and I encourged him to contiune to post.

I think you misread what I wrote.

Daryle is free to post away and I encourage him to do so.

All I did was explain the "issue" in case he wasn't aware of it.

I'm not trying to come off as a jerk. I just think should be black or white on this...not gray. Folks got mad because the thread was made...and it was completetly a real/fake thread. I dont think Daryle had an idea if it was real or not. There is quite often people posting live auctions on here and asking is this fake or does that look authentic. And most often the items in fact are fake so nobody gets mad. It usually turns into "chalk another one up for the good guys". This wasn't any different other than the fact it was an authentic piece. Had it been fake everyone would have been fine with it...just seems like a double standard. If someone is going to get lectured for asking if I live item is real, then nobody should post any real/fake subjects on any live auctions period.

The rule not to "out" auctions is really just a gentleman's agreement, and perhaps Daryle wasn't aware of it. He should continue to post, but hopefully will be more discreet in the future. However, I will add there is absolutely no doubt the card is real, but I guess he just didn't realize it. Don't take it so hard Daryle, keep posting.

Jerry: What about the breathing, the panting, the moaning, the screaming?

Maybe you don't have to be so funny. I mean, would it kill you not to be so funny all the time? That's all I'm asking.

Okay Seinfeld fans, let's see how good you are: On what date did Newman and Kramer go to the Mets game where Keith Hernandez's error led to a five run inning and cost the Mets the game? (I despise Keith Hernandez!)

Excellent Rich. I think we could get a Seinfeld chatboard going. I actually went on to one for a few days, and they are maniacs. Four letter words fly with reckless abandon, and everyone is really cynical. They pretend to hate all the shows but they love to talk about them incessantly.

Although I have never outed an auction here, out of respect for those who object, I think the no-outing code is a bunch of crap.

In this case the auction wasn't really "outed". It was in the correct categorey. Anyone that is a vintage card junkie would have easily found it. I'm kind of mixed on "outing" a card. Of course I wouldn't want a neat card that is buried in the incorrect categorey outed if I was one of few that knew about it...

I've found a few items this way but typically, there's always a few others that stumble on to these little gems.

From the Little Kicks episode, it's George to the blonde haired girl who he met at Elaine's office party and to whom he is trying to impress as being a tough guy.

Yep, From the mentoring episode.

my turn, my turn...

Seemingly. Seemingly, to the untrained eye, I can fully understand how you got that impression. What looked like pushing...what looked like knocking down...was a safety precaution! In a fire, you stay close to the ground, am I right?.. Ahh huh! And when I ran out that door, I was not leaving anyone behind! Oh, quite the contrary! I risked MY life making sure that exit was clear. Any other questions?

George likes the hats. It gives one that pious look you want out of a religion.

I work at home, and have some down time for sure. Incidentally, the episode with Gina was notable as it was the debut of Wayne Knight as Newman (is that a Drake's Coffee cake?).

I think Kenny Kramer still does. His name came up in the news after Michael Richards's recent meltdown.

The reservation scene is one of my two favorite sketches in the show's history. The best one: George lying face down on the floor in his underwear, yelling "say Vandelay Industries", and Jerry walking in, surveying the situation, and saying "and you want to be my latex salesman." That's my number one (and my wife concurs).
