No shit. After you study some vintage DiMaggio signatures, try looking at some Gehrigs. I posted one for you, from the same time period as this ball. Here's another:

Oh. And the writing you think is "after the letter "J"? Try reading Mr Zipper's post again. That line is actually the beginning stroke of the "J." It runs from right-to-left. But, hey... You know best.

If one thinks the Gehrig and DiMaggio are bad, you need to be all-in on every signature being bad. They were all done in the same ink and aged identically.
