Default T206 Walter Johnson Broadleaf 350 on ebay

It has a Broad leaf 350 back and is PRO graded. The problem is that this card DOES NOT come with the Broad Leaf 350 back. It has been re-backed. The seller has also sold other rebacked T206 in the past, a Cobb bat on with Carolina Brights, and others. I cant prove he is doing the rebacking, but he is definately selling them. Please warn the bulletin board people that this card is NOT GOOD.

Thanks,
Art

That's the same seller who is selling some of the Florida Find T206s. Makes you wonder if they are actually from the Florida Find group or otherwise just SCD graded T206s.

It's just standard operating procedure for the "PRO Group", sell legitimate cards along with altered cards to fool the general public. Notice that the Florida find cards are all cheap commons, no Hofers or short prints. This group also sold a rebacked Red Hindu Green Portrait Cobb a few months ago, I guess they don't have a copy of the Monster to guide them.
These guys s**!%. later brian

I LOVE the fact that via this auction I have seen my first card in a PRO holder that wasn't trimmed and it turns out to be a "W" issue that was meant to be - oh, the irony - hand cut.

I love this hobby.

The Johnson is the first PRO card I've considered bidding on, and it turns out to actually be two cards!

Atleast he didn't re-back it with a Hustler...hey, now that's an idea...

I have a whole bunch of trimmed $&^# that I am sending to PRO right away. Heck, I'm closing the office for the day and going right home to cut me down some cards. If it's good enough for the Worldcom board, why not me too?

Can you believe these idiots at PRO? Actually, I have a theory. It seems that they are from Long Island (known to its natives as "Lawn Guyland"). The crew from the great movie "Boiler Room" were headquartered in LI as well. My theory is that these guys were all stock swindlers in their prior lives, then were the script consultants for "Boiler Room". While on the set, they met up with some avid collector types (we all know how these entertainment people follow the trends and card collecting is oh-so trendy) and saw that there was a buck to be made. Being the entrepreneurial types that they are, PRO was born.

Alternatively, this situation is so unreal that the PRO operations are really a plot arc for the next season of the Sopranos, in which we are all participating. Here's how it goes: Tony and crew trade the pork shop (it was making them fat) for a card store when the owner gets into hock to Silvio for the er "services" of a Bing girl. Unfortunately for the crew, when they try to bust out the shop, they realize that there is no actual profit to be had and that card store owners are so bad with credit that there isn't even a credit line to pull down. One day, while cleaning his nails with a top loader, Paulie Walnuts realizes that the cards would look a lot better with neat, clean borders, so he cuts one down. It looks so good that he and T decide to put it into a nicer holder. Meanwhile, that very afternoon, Christopher is ******* Adrianne while smoking and watching the tv (as if you wouldn't do the same). As he surfs channels, he sees HSC's infamous card sales show and realizes that there is big money to be had in fake mint 10 cards (the obvious trailer trash calling in clinches the deal for him; remember, he was SEC compliance officer for a boiler room AND met some entertainment types, so he can recognize a trend). A few calls later and , bada bing, bada boom, they have the cards and the PRO grading service. The rest is history. Pass the canoli.

like they did in 1966? Haven't had any since...

Believe "Sopranos" is at an end, but not sure.

I was referring specifically to the re-backed
Red Hindu Mathewson, graded by PSA and SGC, but
no longer in circulation.

Heitman's book is invaluable for rooting out the
impossible front/back combos like Johnson w. Red Hindu.
But ,known re-backed fakes still in circulation include
Drum Cobb red portrait, and the green back Cobb Red Hindu.

Bidders identities protected...what a crock.
Whenever I see this I know the seller is complicit
in 'fleecing the sheep'. That proves to me that
the seller didn't even believe the 'legitimacy'
bestowed by PRO's 'grading' either!!

I've seen a few of these skinned rebacks on ebay,
the last one was graded by PSA and SGC!! Amuses
me a great deal that all the details were swept
under the rug to avoid embarrassment.
