Default Ellsbury a Yankee

I'm a Yankees fan, but yanks have announced he is coming, sub to physical. crazy contract is like 163 for 7 plus some option. Hey, they don't take 85 wins lightly. Now, need Cano figured out, plus a couple pitchers. Please, A Fraud, get suspended

As a life long Sox fan, I`m happy for the Yankees. Granted he was an important player in this W Series win but still glad the Sox didn`t see him as anywhere near a 20 million plus player. He`ll definetly help the Yanks but he`s 31 this summer and misses games every year. The right field porch should boost his power #`s ( 14-18 bombs) but this looks like another albatross contract 3 or maybe 4 years from now. On the flip side hope the Sox just pencil in Jackie Bradley on day 1 and let it rip !!!

I think he will be a good addition for three or four years then they will be choking on another big, unproductive contract.

If he reverts back to 2011 form, he's worth the money.

Otherwise, the rest of his career taken as a whole. He's a less durable Johnny Damon (better defensively, not as good offensively, taking 2011 out of the equation) and this is a ridiculous signing that will probably cost them Robinson Cano.

Teams make this mistake all the time. Unless you are taking a chance on a really young ballplayer who is still developing, when you sign a promising injury prone veteran, they don't all of a sudden become durable.

They might have one or two healthy years mixed in, but 7 years, C'mon.

If this was the NFL with non-guaranteed contracts, that would be one thing, but the Yanks are going to be strapped to this deal for a long time whether Ellsbury stays healthy or not.

Career annual HR production - not hard to tell which year is 2011 is it?

He must have been well rested after having almost all of 2010 off.
