Default T206 Plank What Backs/Factories?

Posted By: piedmont42

I have heard T206 Plank has been seen with Sweet Cap 150 and 350 backs, but I'm not sure what factories. 150/25? 150/30? 150/649? 350/25? 350/30? Anyone know which ones? Also, has Plank been seen with Pied 150 and/or 350? Thanks.

of the 2 T206 planks i have , both are sweet caporal, the 150 series is factory 25, the 350 series is factory 30. i have scans and catalogues for several more, which all should be identifiable to factory number with some time and notetaking. as far i know, there has not been a plank t206 with a piedmont back seen. it has only been in the last 20-25 years that the sweet caporal 350 series was discovered.

I would have sworn it was a Piedmont (and people questioned its authenticity for that reason). Mark Macrae?

The list of backs in "the Monster" is a listing of "theoretically" possible backs given Heitman's theory of the production methodology, not a listing of known backs. Similiarly, he theorizes that Demmitt can be found with a back other than Polar Bear. After this time, I think it's clear that Plank can only be found with a Sweet Caporal back, and Demmitt (St. Louis) with a Polar Back, despite the theoretical possiblilites given the time line.

Default T206 Plank What Backs/Factories?

Hi All
I believe there are 2 known Plank cards with Piedmont 150 Fac 25 backs and both have been handcut. One (which was sold in the 1999 Halper auction) is missing the last few colors of the printing process, while the other is full colored. Most T206 nuts believe that both Planks and the 2 known Piedmont Wagners were cut from sheets of printers scrap, and never distributed in packs. be well Brian
