Ha, thanks. Condition-wise I'm stoked with this one. I'm working on a Brooklyn type card collection so by "better one" I meant team. He's listed as Pitt Federal League here, but he's in a Brooklyn uniform so I'll take it!

Default Sorry to bring the January pickup thread back to the top,

but late December and all of January were pretty big for my collection, as I picked up numbers 298, 299, and number 300 in the rebuilt Howe McCormick collection.

Bryan let me know about the Chase that showed up on eBay in late November. He even placed a bid on it, just to make sure it didn't disappear before I had a chance to get in touch with the seller. Being so close to Christmas, my wife purchased the card, but I had to wait until December 25 to get to open it and add it to the collection. But conversations with the owner were very interesting.

Then, in mid-January, David mentioned in an old thread that he had found the Miller in his collection, and was willing to part with it. That left me one short of what I considered a milestone for the collection.

Enter Dante, the gentleman who had the Chase. Don't know all the details, as he is very interesting to share stories with, but he is currently building his fifth complete t206 collection, with the first one started in the early 70s. He builds them, completes them, holds on to them for a short time, then sells. Had sold a compete set in Mastro back in 2006 that he says he knows had many of Howe's cards (I quizzed him a bit about that, as I know of the complete collection back in 2008 that did, but can't find any mention of a set in 2006 that did). Anyway, he looked through the collection he is currently building and found one more, the Irv Young, making it number 300 in the rebuilt collection.

Thanks to so many for your help with keeping this strange little (or what started out as little) project going. While the rate at which they show up has slowed, 28 new examples have shown up in the last 22 months. And there are still the 30 I know exist, have seen scans of, but aren't in the collection. Guessing most of them never will be.

But it has been an adventure. Thanks to all.

Ed

gorgeous! I was thinking about dealving into the Piedmont Art Stamps once I completed the Helmar Stamp set...your example really gets my juices flowing and makes me think that I should start on that set sooner!!

As for the Helmars, I only have 23 remaining of the 180 total! Here are my pick-ups from late December/early January thanks to Net54 members who were willing to help me out:

Oh, and Ed, I still think your pursuit of the rebuilt Howe McCormick stamp collection is the unofficial set focus of the entire Net54 community. It's by far the most interesting endeavor!
