Default Roger Maris?

I saw this on ebay at a very low price point. I am not familiar with Maris' signature. I doubt its real.

Looks like a solid early Maris sign

Supposedly signed in 1978.

Not a Maris expert, but unless the Ghost of Maris signed it, pretty sure that's not authentic. Looking beyond the signature, which of these do you think looks like the ball itself...?

Once I hear 1978, I got a bit leery. It really, IMUO, does look solid in terms of the old style, But, we have seen maris' later in life sigs, and it doesn't match well w that era

Is it on a reproduction 78 ball?

I don't know Maris well enough to opine on this one, but any time I see a Mantle, Maris, etc. on one of these WS balls is sets off my radar. They are a forger favorite because they have the appearance of being from the signer's lifetime.

Not giving an opinion as to real or not, BUT, that is not even similar to his early autograph. The "M" style is correct for a later signature.
